STRATFORD, Ont. — It costs US$5,500 to walk in teen pop sensation Justin Bieber’s shoe.

Bieber fever seemed to break today as a sneaker worn by the Stratford, Ont., pop sensation was snapped up on eBay.

Bieber donated a pair of purple Nikes to Stratford Northwestern Secondary School to help his former school raise money for a broadcasting and communications studio.

Teacher Keith Edwards says the school is thrilled the shoe sold but notes the “price really plummeted in the last day.”

Bids came in from around the world and at one point reached $12,400, but school officials say it turned out some weren’t legitimate.

It’s not yet known who bought the scuffed, size 7 1/2 right shoe, which has gravel in the tread and dirt on the side, is autographed and comes with a letter of authenticity.
