It’s official. Justin’s new album “Believe” has given JB his forth #1 album since his debut in December of 2009 with “My World” with sales of 374,000 in it’s first week. No other artists have had that many #1 albums in that span of time.
“Believe” is also the biggest album debut of 2012 so far, surpassing the 359,000 start of Madonna’s “MDNA.” (The last artist to earn a larger launch was Drake’s “Take Care” on Dec. 3, 2011. It debuted with 631,000 albums. Adele’s “21” sold 730,000 albums a week after the Grammy show this year after she won multiple awards but it was not a 2012 debut.)
Justin also notches his own personal best sales week, beating the 291,000 that “My World 2.0” sold in its second week back in April of 2010.
Believe’s original forecast of 410,000-440,000 albums was inflated by the huge first-day sales and significant number of pre-orders.
The four JB albums to hit the top of Billboard 200 charts are:
My World 2.0
Never Say Never: The Remixes
Under The Mistletoe
Believe
(“My World” debuted at #5 and “My World Accoustic” reached #7.)
Billboard is holding a vote to see which celebrity can get the most vote for their work for charities.
Choose which one of these celebrities’ favorite charity should receive Billboard & Magnum’s $20,000 donation — and enter to win a trip to the 2012 Billboard Music Awards!
The celebs are Usher, Jordan Sparks, Nelly Furtado and Justin. If Justin wins then his two charities, Pencils of Promises and Make A Wish, will get $10,000 each donated to them.
Also if you’re also from the USA you can enter for a chance to win a trip to watch the Billboard Awards in Las Vegas on May 20th. You have to be over 21 years old (ask someone to use their name and tell them you’ll take them if you win ;)). It doesn’t say that you’ll meet Justin but he will be there performing that night. You can enter up to May 4th.
As big as JB is there seems to be two big goals he has never reached. One being that he has never won a Grammy Award. This is considered by all artists as the most prestigious award in the music industry, including Justin himself. He has said his dream is to win a Grammy award. In time maybe this achievement will come.
The other big goal Justin has never reached is to have a #1 hit on the Billboard 100. “BABY” was a huge song but it only managed to hit #5. With the recent release of “BOYFRIEND”, Justin managed to hit #2 in it’s first week of release but quickly dropped to #5 in the second week.
Justin Bieber & Mariah Carey on the set of "All I Want For Christmas" 2011
Justin Bieber is #1 on Billboard’s final Holiday songs chart of this season, beating Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, which had been #1 for the past four weeks.
The chart started this year and ranks holiday songs using airplay information from more than 1,200 radio stations, along with download sales and streaming data.
Justin actually has 3 songs on the chart. His duet with Mariah in a new version of “All I Want” jumped up to #24. JB also has another song on the chart, with his version of “Drummer Boy” at #9.
Non-Christmas songs made the list as well, like Adam Sandler’s “The Chanukah Song”, which came in at #20.
Here’s the top five:
1. Justin Bieber – “Mistletoe”
2. Mariah Carey – “All I Want For Christmas Is You”
3. Jose Feliciano – “Feliz Navidad”
4. Nat King Cole – “The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You)”
5. Brenda Lee – “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”
