LA Reid has revealed that signing Justin Bieber to his label helped him get over losing Lady GaGa.
The X Factor judge confessed that he dropped GaGa from his Island Def Jam company after hearing some unfinished demos while he was having a “bad day”.
Speaking to Access Hollywood, Reid explained: “One day this artist came to my office. She played piano and she had on white go-go boots and she played and she sang. When she was done I said, ‘You are an amazing artist and you will change music’.
“I signed her and her name was Lady GaGa. Then a few months later I got her demos and it was a working progress and I was having a bad day. I’m telling you, I was having a bad day.
“And you know what? I was like, ‘I really don’t like it, let her go and find her career’. It was the worst thing I’ve ever done.”
He added: “I felt bad, but I swear to you about a month later Justin Bieber came and redeemed me and so I survived it all!”
Guess who signed Lady Gaga after LA Reid dumped her? Akon.
