Even before Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez stepped out together at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party, the Wizards of Waverly Place actress and singer received death threats and became the center of online hate campaigns for being romantically linked to Bieber.
Since their public outing at the party, in which they posed arm-in-arm for pictures and even sneaked in a few public kisses, the threats have become worse, and Gomez is said to be “terrified” for her life.
According to ContactMusic.com, a source said of the 18-year-old Disney star, “Selena’s terrified. She’s only young and when she sees things written about her, she understandably freaks out. Justin tries to reassure her, but what can he do?”
MTV UK reports that this isn’t the first time Bieber fans have taken their threats public to a lady that seemed to steal the “Baby” singer’s affections.
Kim Kardashian, 30, was also subject to hate campaigns when she posed for a photo shoot with Bieber, even though their age difference was a strong indication they wouldn’t actually start up a relationship.
