When Justin Bieber’s new perfume Someday launched two weeks ago, sharp-eyed fashionistas were quick to notice something a tad familiar about the bottle.
The purple-tinted glass and pink rose lid bore many similarities to Marc Jacobs’ much-loved Lola fragrance.
Now Mr Jacobs, 48, has spoken out about the controversy, admitting that the manufacturer of his scent considered suing the Bieber camp.
In an interview with WWD today, he said: ‘We just had a conversation about it. Coty said, “Do we sue them?” and I said, “You know what? Let everyone else say what they want.”‘
‘I received Google [Alerts] about people saying it was derivative. We’re not going to do anything about it.’
When probed on the similarities between the two bottle designs, he continued: ‘I look around the room and I look at the work we’ve done and a quote I always bastardize but I really believe in, is something Chanel said: “He who insists on his own creativity has no memory.”‘

Marc Jacobs is a fashion god. Justin Bieber is a wanna-be singer who just hit puberty. Do NOT diss Marc Jacobs, because if you diss him you are dissing ALL of the celebrities out there. I don’t know one celebrity who doesn’t bow down to Marc Jacobs. You “Beliebers” don’t know anything, and by you dissing Marc Jacobs I’m almost positive Justin would be disappointed. The Lola perfume was created before Justin’s perfume and even Selena said she wears the Lola perfume, she said it in Seventeen magazine, so obviously Justin knows what the bottle looks like. They do look REALLY similar on the promo posters and that AND the justin beiber people who designed the bottle and decided on that bottle and made the posters etc would have known it looks so similar – they aren’t clueless and they would have done tones of research on what’s already in the market. so why chose that bottle?

You have to remember you’re naming famous teenagers who have a lot of money, non famous teens might not be able to afford Marc Jacob Perfumes because they are quite pricey, some will be able to but not all of them so I do think his perfumes are aimed at 20′s and up but hey if you’re a teen and can afford them more power to ya

Ok all you beiber fans need to open your eyes because the two bottles are practically the same. Beiber needs to know that 1. He shouldn’t even be putting out a scent, and 2. If you are going to put one out, make your own F-ing bottle and don’t steel ideas from people who are better than you.
Marc Jacobs is not just for older women, it for women who want to smell nice and feminine.
And by the looks of the bottle, Justin’s is made out of cheap plastic while, Marc Jacob’s is made out of a nice fabric and gold plating.

Why do you obviously assume that someone is jealous of Justin Beiber just because they’re bashing him? I’d rather be unheard of my entire life than be famous for being a talentless teeny bopper pawn. I used to think that he couldn’t be that bad, it’s his fans that are actually insane, but now that he is putting out a perfume (whether he designed the bottle or not, he put his name on it), he is just a toy. Here’s some advice, learn to love real music. In middle school, I was teased relentlessly for loving the Doors when the Backstreet Boys were popular. Well, the Doors were disbanded in 1973 and they will forever be legendary. The Backstreet Boys weren’t even a decade old and every single one of them are washed up and unheard of. Beiber is on the same line as the Backstreet Boys. Grow up. By the Way, Marc Jacob’s perfume smells wonderfully modern and pretty , Beiber’s will never be in that same class.
And I didn’t even mention the fact that his bottle and flower looks like girl parts.

Marc Jacobs looks like a felt flower it’s green,blue,purple,and pink and a tall plastic purple bottle with a golden neck and golden writing. Justin Biebers looks like plastic layered hearts that are different types of pink lightest to darkest and a short round glass bottle with a purple tint and a charm/ chain, no neck and no writting. I dont see anything similar. -low key critic

Felt/Plastic – not the same
Hearts/flowers – not the same
Green, blue, purple and pink as opposed to just different shades of pink – not the same
Tall plastic bottle/short round glass bottle – not the same
Gold neck/Gold writing – not the same
The only similarity in there is the fact that she said one is a purple bottle and the other has a purple tint and even then who cares? They both aren’t the only bottles out there that are purple :S

i love the lola perfume. Jb like him or leave him. I think I’m the MJ market anyway, 28 year old woman. I don’t care that the bottles smell the same but I WILL be really pissed off if I hear that they smell the same. The sh*t they sell at Wal-Mart a la Brittany, Jessica, and Beiber should smell nothing like the higher end lines by Jacobs or any other designer who knows what they’re doing when it comes to perfume. Every time I wear Lola, people tell me that I smell AMAZING. I don’t even tell my friends what kind of perfume I wear bc I don’t want them to buy it. Has anyone smelled the Someday, what does it smell like? If it smells like Lola, I encourage MJ to sue, sue, sue!!!!!
I’m 27 and JB perfume isn’t my thing either but I wouldn’t be annoyed if they smelled the same because most teens can’t afford Marc Jacob perfumes and probably like them, so why not give them a cheap knock off? Prices of high end perfumes aren’t suitable for teens but I don’t see why they should miss out.

The packaging of those bottles looks exactly the same. That is too obvious, I even heard that the smell is similar, if I were Marc, I would get my legal team and sue. A lot of these celebs get into the Fashion Industry and most of their stuff is rip offs of whatever the big name designers are doing. This is an obvious sign that Justin had no creative input into this bottle, he couldn’t even explain the influence of the smell to Al Roker. LMFAO!!!!
