Justin Bieber shoes eBay auction to benefit Stratford High School

Singing sensation Justin Bieber is helping raise money for his former high school by donating a pair of shoes to be sold on auction website eBay.com.

The Baby hitmaker has given the autographed purple Nikes to Stratford Northwestern Secondary School in Ontario, where he was a pupil before finding fame.

The right shoe went online on Monday in honour of the star’s 17th birthday and has already attracted a high bid of $650. The other shoe will be auctioned at a later date.

Proceeds from Bieber’s kicks, which are described as worn and scuffed, will be used to build a new broadcasting and communications studio at the school.

The footwear is sure to be a hot item – a lock of the star’s hair sold for a staggering $40,668 and a space suit Bieber wore for a TV commercial fetched $5,800 at auction earlier this month.

Just a note for you Americans. In Canada, kindergarden to grade 7 is referred to as ‘elementary’ school and grade 8 to 12 is ‘secondary/high school’. There is no junior and senior high school in Canada.
