Last Friday July 6, 2012, on his way to film his new music video for “As Long As You Love Me” in Los Angeles, Justin was spotted speeding on the Pacific Coast Highway in California at dangerous speeds in his Fisker Karma.
TMZ says that 10 people called the police to report that someone was weaving in and out of traffic and driving at speeds over 100 mph (that’s 160 kilometers per hour, wowzers!).
One of those people was L.A. City Councilman Dennis Zine who says Justin should be arrested for driving recklessly.

The police caught up with Justin and gave him a speeding ticket for driving 80 mph. Justin told them he was being harassed by the paparazzi who was chasing him down the highway. He said there were 5 cars following him and that one paparazzi in particular was going overboard being way too aggressive.
The policeman advised Justin to call 911 if they continue to chase him, which was exactly what Justin did shortly after. You can listen to Justin’s 911 call here.
Later that afternoon the police went to Justin’s music video set shoot to take a statement about the aggressive paparazzi complaint. Apparently it didn’t take much to find the offending paparazzi as he was right there at the video shoot too trying to take more pictures of Justin. The police took a statement from that paparazzi there also.
Paparazzi can be such buttheads but Justin really need to slow down for his own safety. This isn’t the first time Justin has been involved in a high speed chase with the paparazzi. Last year Justin, Selena Gomez, and Kenny Hamilton was also in a high speed chase with the papz while Jelena was in Stratford visiting family.

This wasn’t just about speed. Ten completely different people don’t call 911 on a CALIFORNIA freeway just to report someone who’s going 80mph LOL what a joke.
yeah I’ve had people blow right by me doing 80+ but I ignore it as most people would UNLESS they feel their own life is at risk. That’s just how most people are. So obviously that is 10 people who felt their own life was at risk meaning he was probably doing way more than 80. And not just speeding but all the weaving through traffic and driving on the side. If you are old enough to be a driver and know how driving works then you shouldn’t be defending him. The cops always go easy on Justin. Even if they give him a ticket.. for Justin(or any celebrity), giving him a ticket is basically a slap on the wrist and telling him its ok as long as no one got hurt.

But really though… If he felt that threatened by the paps, instead of putting EVERYONE in danger(including himself), he should have pulled over and called the cops. What’s the most that would happen? The paps would pull over as well and get a pic of him sitting in his car, windows up, hat on, most likely sunglasses on and looking down covering his face like he does. And that’s all they would get until the police came and got rid of them. This isn’t the first time Justin’s been caught speeding. And he typically gets away with it. I love Justin and I don’t want him or anyone else to get hurt. I do think its getting close to the time when he should have his license taken away. He needs to learn proper ways to deal with the paps instead of lashing out at them or driving recklessly. sorry justin…
All of this is right on. He has proven countless times that he is not a safe driver. If he were any normal person, his license would actually be on restriction by now, and suspended after this particular incident. Driving isn’t a right, it’s a privilege, and it’s certainly not a privilege one is entitled to keep just because of their celebrity. I love the guy too, but he should not be allowed to drive. He proved to everyone with this that he cares more about having more pictures taken of him than he does about the safety of numerous fellow drivers. So wrong.

If you fuck it up by putting so many lives in danger at one time, you lose your chances. Any normal person would have had their license suspended.
Also.. Justin seems to be getting more and more annoyed with the paps as time goes on. Justin should have slowed down not for just HIS own safety, he should have slowed down for the safety of the tons of other people on the freeway! And this isn’t just about speed. If ten or more people called in reporting his weaving in and out of traffic and other reckless driving, that shows that he was driving insanely, because most people don’t call 911 for most typical illegal driving moves. So if TEN PEOPLE on the freeway feel extremely threatened, ESPECIALLY in California where everyone drives like shit and no one questions it, that means Justin was being absolutely dangerous with his driving. I’m sick of him making excuses on the 911 call. He was saying that he had to speed, had to do what he’s doing because these people are following him, and only saying they are the reckless drivers, and then he has the nerve to whine about how the cop treated him? I have absolutely no sympathy for Justin when it comes to this. None whatsoever. He’s done so many illegal things while driving before, yet has always been let off the hook. I’m glad a cop finally gave him a ticket he has to pay. He’s had all the money to pay all his tickets, and then some. The cop was not being out of line or mean. The cop was treating him like he’d treat anyone else who was driving so crazy.
Were the paparazzi in the wrong? Yes. But so was Justin. He should have pulled over the moment he was being followed, then called the cops, and not have left until the cops showed up. Risking having more pictures taken of you on the shoulder of a freeway is much better than risking numerous LIVES on the freeway. Completely disappointing, Justin. Honestly what he did is as bad as driving under the influence.
And he’s lucky that he was ONLY cited for speeding, and not reckless driving, endangerment, etc., and lucky he wasn’t arrested or had his license suspended. The cop was going easy on him.

I would have done exactly the same as Justin, he was most probably panicking as anybody would if they were being followed by three cars! it’s scary being followed, most of you probably don’t even know what it is like to be followed! what is with all the sudden hate…. 🙂

I’ve been stalked and followed by other cars before, and dealt with the situation without putting plenty of others of lives at risk on the freeway. Stop sucking up.

I do understand that what Justin did was wrong. But he apologized and in my opinion everyone deserves a second chance including Justin. He is a human being not some god who is perfect. People will make mistakes it’s just a part of life.

I get why he did it. I would of done that exact same thing the question is did he know it was the paparazzi behind him he may have thought his life was in danger and the only way out was to speed, But that beside the point here. Their is a fedral photo law it state if any body in or on the privect property a photo should not be taking. which mean he was in his car his property they should have been allow to take photo of the traffic stop. I think that why they brought up charges againist the paparazzo because they didn’t want a fedral law suit on their hands. it a strange law you have to read between the lines. It could of be interpet any way yes he was on a pubic road way but he was out side of his property. That officer to away the fedral law which goes above state law. If their on the side walk their you can take picture of them but in or on privect property as long as your not tresspassing you can take picture.
He should have been Charged like any other person. Just because he is a celebrity? come on! he is your average Canadian Kid who happened to get really Lucky, it does not give him any special rights to break the law. If that was me, I would have been arrested. he is using the Paparazzi as an excuse to speed !
