Some of pop music’s biggest artists, including Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj, are lending their tunes for a good cause. On Monday (March 21), it was announced that Universal Music is rushing out a digital-only compilation album to raise awareness and funds for those affected by the 9.0-magnitude earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan.
While the lineup and track list have yet to be finalized, other chart-toppers expected to be featured on the release include U2 and Bon Jovi. Lady Gaga may also appear on the album. Proceeds from sales will go to the Japanese Red Cross.
“We are doing it only digitally because it is faster, and this will be a worldwide release. The plan is to have it available later this week,” a spokesperson for Universal Music said.
In order to maximize proceeds, the record label plans to find more acts willing to waive royalties that would have come from having their tracks appear on the compilation.

Justin Bieber has revealed that he asked Rihanna out on a date last Sunday.
The 16-year-old explained that the 23-year-old rejected him because he is “too young”.
He told Chelsea Handler: “Yeah, I asked her out. It didn’t go so well since I’m not with her.
“I asked her out and she was basically like, ‘You’re too young’.”
The pair were sat next to each other in the front row at the NBA All-Star basketball game in Los Angeles when Bieber asked the singer out.

BUT SHE HAS HARSH WORDS FOR SELLOUT STARS
As the whole world experiences Justin Bieber mania, even R&B superstar Rihanna has got in on the act.
In an interview with the NME, the Barbadian beauty has given the 16-year-old protégé of Usher the thumbs up, saying: “He has locked into an audience that have been missing someone for so long. They’re going to grow with him because he seems very real – he’s not forcing anything.”
She’s less than complimentary about pop stars who use their videos to advertise products. Despite phone company Nokia being involved in the promotion of her current album Rated R, Rhianna has vowed that it’ll be the last time.
“I don’t like things to be so commercial. I hate product placement in my videos. Videos should just tell the story of the song. With product placement it becomes this big ad campaign. I just don’t like that. Sometimes we have to, for whatever polit-ical reason, but it’s never my first choice.”
“Only one of them won an Oscar for playing a female-to-male pre-operative transsexual.”
“Only one of them had a hit album called “Good Girl Gone Bad.”
TMZ is trying to be funny at our cutie pie’s expense. They keep on putting disgusting pictures of female stars and comparing it to Justin. It’s not Justin that has the weird hair cut, it’s Rihanna and Hilary Swank. Geez!!
