The 2012 Billboard Music Awards is this Sunday and the polls have opened for the “Top Social Artist” category. The Top Social nominees are “web savvy artists who rule the Internet, making waves and racking up followers on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube”. This has Justin’s name written all over it.

Justin Bieber’s new music video has set a record-breaking number of views on YouTube. “Boyfriend”, which was premiered on Thursday, May 3 night, received more than 8 million views within just 24 hours.
The number posted by Bieber’s video shattered previous record breaker, Rihanna’s “Where Have You Been”, which was released a week prior. As of Sunday morning, “Boyfriend” has garnered more than 13 million hits, thanks partly to the campaign that the heartthrob has launched on Twitter to make “Boyfriend” the most popular video ever posted on YouTube.

Justin Bieber has become the first person to top 2 billion YouTube views.
The singer passed the milestone over the weekend after his latest music video for festive track ‘Mistletoe’ reached 27 million views in a week.
To date, the star has amassed 2,004,247,332 views across the video-sharing site.
Bieber continues to hold the record for the most viewed music video on YouTube with his clip for ‘Baby’ currently sitting at 650 million hits.
Lady GaGa beat the 17-year-old to the 1 billion mark back in October 2010, but he quickly overtook and now has a lead of 320 million.
However, GaGa still remains the most popular person on Twitter with 15 million followers compared to Bieber’s 13.9 million.
Meanwhile, Rihanna comes in as the third-highest YouTube star with 1.7 billion views and is currently the fastest-growing, while Eminem trails with 1.5bn.

Teen lovers Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are on the rocks – because of his bad boy hip-hop friends.
The pair are taking time out after Selena, 19, ordered the clean-cut pop idol to ditch his new pals, The Sun can reveal.
It came after Justin, 17, arrived at one of Selena’s gigs in Florida last week with rap ace Sean Kingston, 21 – a former child burglar.

Justin is also close to gun-charge former convict Lil Wayne and has released a track with R&B’s Chris Brown, who beat ex-lover Rihanna.
A pal of Disney star Selena revealed: “Selena told him to stop hanging with these bad people.
“She didn’t want Sean Kingston to crash her gig but Justin brought him to concert in Boca Raton anyway. They had a huge fight and said it was good they were having time apart while she was on tour.”
But the next day Justin and Sean caused hysteria by cruising through Miami in an open-top Rolls-Royce.
A pal of Selena said she saw Justin in tears during rows with her. She said: “It’s hard seeing a little 17-year-old crying and saying he loves her.”

Rihanna was at Island Def Jam’s headquarters in New York City yesterday for a photoshoot. Spotting a picture of JB on the wall she could not hold herself back from the overwhelming urge to kiss it.

Teen heartthrob Justin Bieber was reportedly stopped from talking to Rihanna at the Billboard Music Awards by her security guards.
The 17-year-old was allegedly left feeling upset when he was prevented from meeting with Rhi Rhi, 23, after approaching the California King Bed singer five times at the awards ceremony, which was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday.
An insider told British newspaper the Daily Mirror: ‘Justin thinks Rihanna is the most beautiful woman and supremely talented.
‘He is in awe of her. Justin is just a red-blooded teenager, he can’t help acting like a love-sick puppy dog when he’s around her.’
The source added: ‘The pair were chatting as Justin’s girlfriend Selena [Gomez] looked on, scowling. Then Rihanna got dragged away by a couple of her friends.
‘The pair resumed their chat later but when Justin went to talk to her at the show’s climax her security blocked his path, telling him to ‘leave it.’
‘Justin looked mortified – he thought they were buddies.’
