Sixteen year old Justin Bieber is in his native Canada this weekend for the annual Juno Awards. Sunday night’s award show will celebrate the success of Canadian artists and bands.
Bieber, who has shot to international fame over the last year, is up for three Junos. He’s nominted in the Album of the Year and Pop Album of the Year categories for his debut album “My World,” he’s also received a Juno nomination for New Artist of the Year.
While mostly calling the U.S. home since he was discovered on YouTube, the teen pop sensation says he couldn’t be prouder to be Canadian. “Hello Newfoundland….Junos this weekend!! Proud to be Canadian,” Bieber tweeted today. The sixteen year old also took to Facebook today (Saturday) to show his appreciation for just how far he’s come since his days playing on Canada’s streets. “I started busking and now I am going to the Juno Awards.” Bieber writes. “U.S. I love you but dreams come true in Canada too. lol. I’m living the Canadian dream this weekend.“

JBShrine is proud to be Canadian too and proud of Justin for his accomplishments. All Canadian Beliebers make sure to tune into CTV tomorrow to watch Justin win his first ever music award and make his acceptance speech. So proud right now.
Canadians might remember a time when we didn’t have to share him with the world…..
The critics all agree. Justin will take home Pop Album of the Year at the Junos on Monday. Doesn’t seem like he has a chance against Michael Buble in the Album of the Year category. But he is head to head with Drake in the New Artist of the Year category with Justin slightly favored to win. That means he might be taking home 2 of the 3 awards he is nominated for.
That is soooooooo awesome. Or as the British like to say ‘so brilliant! Now would you like to have a cup of tea?’.
For Pop Album of the year:
“The Bieb has The Bub and all the other competitors beat for Pop Album of the Year.”
“Bieber could snag pop album prize from under Buble’s nose”
“Justin Bieber’s My World for pop album of the year (since Michael Buble’s Crazy Love will win album of the year).”
For New Artist of the Year:
“Oooh . . . now THIS is shaping up to be a tantalizing category, what with two of Canada’s top exports, Drake and Justin Bieber, going head to head. My money’s on Justin – only because Drake has yet to officially release a full album.”
“Drake vs. Bieber 2010 is a tough two-horse race, almost too tough to call.”
“My heart says Drake, my brain says leave it to Bieber.”
Are you guys excited as I am about this? OMG Justin’s gonna win!!!!!
It seems that Italians have good taste as well. Justin was nominated for Best International Act for the 2010 TRL (Italy) awards which will be held on May on May 8th 2010 in Genova. Justin has some competition though in 30 Seconds to Mars, Avril Lavigne, Green Day, and Black Eyed Peas.
On Saturday, Justin Bieber will be one of two performers at Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards — along with Rihanna, he will be hitting the stage for the annual awards show. And while he just missed the deadline to be nominated for any prizes, he does know that when he gets up there to sing, his fans will be surprised by what they get. Bieber is keeping any performance details under wraps.
“I do know what I’m performing, but I don’t want to tell anyone,” he teased. “Were both performing, but not together.”
Once he finishes his Kids’ Choice Awards performance, Bieber is also set to hit another iconic stage when he plays “Saturday Night Live” on April 10, with Tina Fey as host. “I’m really excited. I’ve watched it all my life,” he said. “So it’s amazing to be able to perform.”
And as if that wasn’t reason enough to celebrate, just this week he released his sophomore album, My World 2.0. On it, he has a collaboration with Ludacris, “Baby,” and Lil Wayne has also said that he wants to work with the teen star. “I would love to work with him in the future, but nothing so far,” he said. Does Bieber really have a swagger coach to thank for being accepted by hip-hop’s elite?
“I mean, I just hang out with whoever. I’m also friends with Selena Gomez. I hang out with everyone,” he said, adding any rumors of a swagger coach have been greatly exaggerated. “I mean, it’s just a joke. It’s just something we made up. … I don’t know; I’m just myself.”
