Did Justin Bieber cut his famous hair because girlfriend Selena Gomez wanted him to?
Selena has made no secret about her dislike for Justin’s shaggy hair, saying it’s annoying how he shakes and flips it while you’re trying to talk to him.
It may very well be that Bieber decided to cut his hair to make Gomez happy, and they do look happy. The couple have been nearly inseparable since Oscar night, where they were spotted holding hands and kissing.
On Tuesday, Justin turned 17-years-old. He and Selena were spied in a tight embrace as they shopped and dined, seemingly celebrating Bieber’s big birthday.
So, is Selena Gomez to blame for Justin Bieber’s new hairstyle? If she is, Justin’s not telling. Bieber revealed that he chopped his locks because he wanted a change and a more mature look. However, if he got the idea from Selena, it’s cute that he was only trying to make her happy. However, fans may see it in a different way, portraying Gomez as the controlling girlfriend.
Justin has always been clear about what he wants done. That said, he trusts me to make the right judgment with it, we really orchestrate his hairstyle together. He knows what he wants and I know what will work best with his features and hair type … it’s like silk. He has very soft hair [and] I hope it stays that way forever. We’ve been talking about it over the last six months or so, more or less. It’s definitely been in the works for a while.” – Vanessa Price, Justin Bieber’s Hair Stylist
A single lock of Justin Bieber’s newly-shorn hair is being auctioned off for charity and bids had reached $6,700 on eBay early on Thursday.
The 16-year-old Canadian pop idol cut his trademark floppy hair earlier this week, and presented one of the locks to TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
“I’m giving pieces of it to different people,” Bieber told DeGeneres. “We’re doing something special. We want you to donate it to whatever charity you want.”
DeGeneres put the hair, placed in a Plexiglas box signed by Bieber, up for auction on Wednesday with all the proceeds to benefit the California animal rescue organization The Gentle Barn.
Bidding started at $10 and quickly reached $6,700. The auction will end on March 2.
Bieber’s hair stylist told People magazine that the “Baby” singer had been talking for months about cutting his hair and adopting a more mature look.
“Cutting your hair is just part of the evolution and growing process for anyone, and I think he was just ready,” stylist Vanessa Price told the magazine. “We’ve been talking about it over the last 6 months or so — more or less, it’s definitely been in the works for a while.”
Justin Bieber makes a surprise guest appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show airing Wednesday (February 23).
During Ellen’s monologue, Justin shocks the audience by joining the talk show host for her “Twits and Ask” segment.
One Twitter follower asks Ellen if it’s true that she is appearing in Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never 2.0 version and the pop star, himself, answers – yes she is!
Justin also debuts his new shorter haircut AND gives Ellen his belated birthday gift – a lock of his REAL hair!
On Justin’s new haircut…
Ellen: “Look at your cute little haircut! You got a brand new haircut. Don’t you love his haircut? Cheers I like it.”
Justin: “I was inspired by yours.”
Ellen: “By my haircut?”
Justin: “By yours.”
Ellen: “I know, eventually it’d come around. It’s adorable. Were people like, ‘Hey, don’t cut it!’ Were people freaking out?”
Justin: “Yeah, but I was like, ‘I don’t really care.’”
Ellen: “I like it because you can’t do the same thing over and over again. You have to change it up. I think it’s great. I love your haircut.”
Justin: “Thank you.”
On Justin’s belated birthday surprise – his REAL hair!….
Ellen: “What do you have? Sit down.”
Justin: “It’s really cool. You know I cut my hair, right?”
Ellen: “Yep. Are you going to fulfill your promise finally? My birthday present.” (Justin gives Ellen box with his hair inside.)
Ellen: “Is it really your hair?”
Justin: “Yes, it’s really my hair. But there’s a perk. I wanted to do something good. I’m giving pieces of it to different people.”
Ellen: “So I’m not the only one getting it? I asked a long time ago for it.”
Justin: “The thing is, we’re doing something special. We want you to donate it to whatever charity you want.”
Ellen: “Really? I can auction it off if I put it on my website?”
Justin: “Yes.”
Ellen: “You have to sign this and also. And it’s your hair for sure. It’s not that doll hair you tried to give me before.”
Justin: “Yes. It’s my hair.”
Ellen: “You’re going to sign this and I’m going to auction this off on our website. I’m going to give the money to the Gentle Barn which is a great organization.”

Vanessa is the only one allowed to touch the sacred Bieber mane.
JB told TMZ Live today that the monumental cut marked a “kind of a mature look.”
My personal opinion, I really like it. It’s definitely going to take some getting use to, especially the fact that he won’t be shaking his hair ever 5 seconds, but it looks good:) Makes him look more mature :p – Ash
Canadian heartthrob Justin Bieber unveiled changes to his career-defining hairstyle at the Golden Globe Awards Sunday night. Aileen Donnelly asked the experts to dissect the pop star’s new do:
Before
The cut that made him famous consisted of long bangs swept to the side and hair, all one length, covering the ears and nape of the neck. It was a favourite of 14-year-old boys. “I don’t think it was age-appropriate anymore in the sense that he’s now 16 years old and he needs something with a little more of a mature feel to it,” says Montreal celebrity hairstylist Alain Larivee, Canadian creative consultant for the John Frieda hair care line. “You wouldn’t catch a 16-year-old boy with the old Bieber hairdo.”
– . It naturally lay flat because it was longer and all the same length.
– . The old haircut required less effort. At most, the hairdo required some mousse before blow-drying and a light spray of hairspray to finish.
– . Bieber would usually part his hair to the right, possibly out of necessity. “I have hair like Justin Bieber’s — my hair’s cut the same way — and for me, it’s all about what is working better that day. Sometimes I wake up and it’s sitting better to one side,” Vancouver hairstylist Harry Josh says.
After
– . The new ‘do follows the same lines as the old cut but the hair is shorter and more layered. The multiple layers create more texture, which means the new cut can be styled multiple ways with the addition of such hair products as gel.
– . From a hairstylist’s point of view, not much has changed, Harry Josh says. In his opinion, there has been more of a change in style than cut.
– . The new cut still has length over the ears but is decidedly shorter throughout. Most notably, the bangs have been shortened as well as layered, putting an end to the hair-in-the-eyes trend. While some of the original softness has been maintained with layering, there is no longer the same “sweepy” feel and the lines are far more square.
– . Toronto stylist Eric Del Monaco, whose work has been featured on Project Runway Canada, predicts the new haircut will be even more of a trendsetter.
– . “I think people were going to ask more for this one because I think it’s a lot more fresh looking and it’s a lot more interesting.”

I think he looks hot in this hairstyle and I like the fact that it makes him look more mature 🙂 I’m gonna miss the hairflip though. What do you think? Vote on the poll below or comment on this post to let us know what you think.
